Job Description
The Controls Technician reports to the Head of Automation. Responsibilities include special projects, controls troubleshooting and electrical maintenance duties when not engaged with other tasks. This position works closely with various departments to ensure the electrical and mechanical infrastructure of the plant is maintained and optimized properly to ensure efficient processing and maximum uptime.
- PLC maintenance and Troubleshooting of the systems within our facility
- Troubleshoot programs to identify problems and make corrections
- Create and read logic flow diagrams for program design and programming
- Provide technical support in developing and improving processes
- Configure, install and repair automation / control devices
- Observes functioning of installed equipment to detect hazards, problems, and the need for service, repair and / or replacement of electrical, electronic and mechanical components.
- Maintenance and repair of electrical systems across the organization
- Troubleshooting electrical / mechanical / production / quality issues
- Reading and understanding mechanical plans and wiring diagrams
- Work according to project timelines and required processes
- Assist activities of outside contractors working on assigned line(s)
- Work independently (under limited supervision)
- Review controls documentation and installation plans
- Advises Electrical Department leadership of electrical / mechanical problems and suggests solutions.
- Complete special projects as directed
- Participate in training and development opportunities to increase knowledge of relevant systems
- Follow safety and work procedures
