In 1957, Franz Binder, sr. founded the since then existing independent family business binderholz as a small “one-gate sawmill” in Fügen in Zillertal of Tyrol.
Today, apart from the headquarters in Fugen in Tyrol Binderholz has 28 further sites. Around 5,000 employees at five Austrian, five German, fourteen British, one Latvian, two Finish and two US sites share passion for wood. The production sites thereby offer a great variety of diverse work fields and career opportunities in industrial wood processing.

The binderholz group has become one of the biggest solid timber producing companies in Europe. Both in the treatment and in the processing of the quite essential raw material wood, and with regard to our present and future employees, we are centrally oriented on the concept of sustainability.

In 2020 we have acquired our new US production sites Binderholz Enfield LLC. & Binderholz Live Oak LLC. in Florida, developing our US organization and market presence to a larger scale step by step. We have been importing various mass timber products to the US & Canada for years, but with our own US sales entity in Atlanta, GA and our new production sites in Enfield, NC & Live Oak, FL we are heading to meet the growing demand of saw timber and massive wood products through regionally sourced and produced binderholz products in America.

Job Description

The Kiln Operator reports to the area Supervisor. This position is critical in monitoring and making necessary adjustments to the kilns. Responsibilities include making the proper adjustments to ensure product quality and efficient operation. Drying of lumber using technical processes as required as well as operations of boilers and complete required forms; and other duties assigned.

Schedules:

• 10 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• Night shift
• Weekends as needed

Main Responsibilities:

• Controls (starts/ stops) and monitors drying cycle
• Wood moisture determination with manual measuring device
• Monitors drying quality (wood moisture, defects)
• Opens and closes gates of kilns
• Operates and controls boiler
• Communication with production planning, production manager and supervisor
• Maintenance of measuring devices
• Learning and understanding of Binderholz rules for lumber
• Follow safety and work procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

• Must be dependable and show ability to take direction.
• Able to work flexible schedules and long hours.
• Minimal skills required, however must be able to learn general manufacturing duties.
• Ability to work outdoors in all temperatures, in loud, high-volume environment.
• Perform essential functions of job that includes walking, standing, climbing stairs, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work with computer software.
• Possess problem solving skills.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time; must be able to sit, stand, push/pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, or crawl occasionally
• Frequent lifting/moving of items that may range in weight up to 50 pounds
• Regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts
• Exposed to hot, cold, wet or humid conditions
