Description:
- The Business Development Specialist works closely with the Emerging Companies Venture Capital and Capital Markets practice groups and business development managers to coordinate and execute on business development plans and materials.
- Business Development
- Provide substantive, “right hand” assistance in the execution of business development plans.
- Edit, update, draft, and maintain practice group marketing materials, including practice group descriptions, attorney biographies, and content for the website. Draft new collateral as needed.
- Prepare pitches and RFPs, including research, preparing collateral, and assembling materials, under the guidance and direction of senior team members. Assist in tracking results and preparing responsive reports and analyses incorporating recommendations for increasing effectiveness.
Events
- Assist in conceptualizing, planning, and executing client/prospect events under the direction of senior team members.
- Implement best practices around event preparation, follow-up and ROI analysis.
- In collaboration with the firmwide events logistics team, scout and select venues for events as needed, with understanding of location and audience preferences.
- Identify key industry conferences, networking opportunities, and firm-hosted events that support client development.
- Manage and support all logistics for firm-hosted events in Austin, including venue selection, contract negotiation, catering, A/V, and branding, under the guidance of senior team members.
- Coordinate invitations, RSVPs, and guest list management, ensuring the right mix of clients, prospects, and firm representatives.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Business Development Specialist works closely with the Emerging Companies Venture Capital and Capital Markets practice groups and business development managers to coordinate and execute on business development plans and materials.
Business Development
- Provide substantive, “right hand” assistance in the execution of business development plans.
- Edit, update, draft, and maintain practice group marketing materials, including practice group descriptions, attorney biographies, and content for the website. Draft new collateral as needed.
- Prepare pitches and RFPs, including research, preparing collateral, and assembling materials, under the guidance and direction of senior team members. Assist in tracking results and preparing responsive reports and analyses incorporating recommendations for increasing effectiveness.
- Create dynamic PowerPoint presentations for partner pitches and internal communications.
- Participate in completing timely submissions to directories and ranking authorities, ensure rankings in preferred publications, such as Chambers & Partners, are maximized.
- Participate in keeping databases current for assigned Business Development Group.
Events
- Assist in conceptualizing, planning, and executing client/prospect events under the direction of senior team members.
- Implement best practices around event preparation, follow-up and ROI analysis.
- In collaboration with the firmwide events logistics team, scout and select venues for events as needed, with understanding of location and audience preferences.
- Identify key industry conferences, networking opportunities, and firm-hosted events that support client development.
- Manage and support all logistics for firm-hosted events in Austin, including venue selection, contract negotiation, catering, A/V, and branding, under the guidance of senior team members.
- Coordinate invitations, RSVPs, and guest list management, ensuring the right mix of clients, prospects, and firm representatives.
- Work closely with attorneys to ensure they are prepared for events, including developing briefing materials on attendees.
- Coordinate post-event follow-ups, including thank-you emails and next-step action items for attorneys.
ABOUT YOU
- Three years of relevant experience in professional services marketing; law firm experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of or interest in the Emerging Companies Venture Capital and Capital Markets industries desired, with direct work experience a plus.
- Strong knowledge of core marketing principles including driving innovative tools and programs, competitive intelligence, market research, and pitch and RFP responses.
