Site Safety Manager
4-6 Months Contract (Possibly Extension or Conversion)
New Albany, OH
Job Description:
Experience: Three (3) to Five (5) years of construction safety experience (electrical safety experience preferred)
Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) preferred or similar Construction Management, Business, or Engineering.
Licensure/Certifications: OSHA 30 Construction required. CPR/FA Certified (Trainer Preferred), along with other safety certifications desired. Must be willing to obtain a BCSP.
Responsibilities:
· Support Crew Foreman, General Foremen and Site Superintendent in the execution of the Project Safety Roadmap and Site Safety Plan.
· Assist with the development, evaluations and execution of Safety Pre-Task Planning and Standard Work Instructions. Ensure Foremen, GF and Superintendents are evaluating SPTP’s, SWI’s and PRA’s and providing appropriate coaching as needed
· Perform daily observations of employee behaviors and site conditions utilizing the SmartTagIt system
· Evaluate effectiveness of safety programs through routine safety program audits.
· Assist with the development and approval of work permits (confined space, ground disturbance, fall protection, etc.)
· Provide coaching to employees on hazard identification and mitigation utilizing the Personal Risk Assessment process
· Meet regularly with project leadership and support the development of project specific corrective action plans to address safety issues and concerns
· Generate weekly Total Case Incident Reports on large projects and submit to project leadership and management
· Provide coaching and mentoring for employees exhibiting unsafe behaviors and provide recognition for employees exhibiting safe behaviors.
· Lead the delivery of jobsite specific safety orientations for new employees joining the project, as applicable.
· Facilitate safety training and testing for all employees (HazCom, Fall Protection, Lockout/Tag out, etc.)
· Provide case management of all injury/illness cases
· Lead incident and injury investigations with support from production leadership.
· Perform periodic evaluations of power tools and equipment (i.e. scissor lifts, forklifts, fall protection, laser levelers, etc.) to ensure equipment is being maintained in good working order, as applicable.
· Monitor, evaluate and audit CEI/Subcontractor compliance in accordance with applicable standards, regulations, and project safety requirements.
· Support Project Leadership in the development and execution of weekly toolbox safety meetings.
· Attend daily meetings and provide input to crews through routine attendance and perform assessments on effectiveness and relevance of topics
· Provide feedback to project leadership on meeting effectiveness
· Provide management oversight and professional development of project safety coordinators as needed
· Develop SMART Objectives and Key Results (OKR’s) to manage development and performance of direct reports
· Conduct annual performance evaluations on direct reports.
Qualifications:
· Understanding of industry consensus standards such as NFPA, ASTM, and ANSI
· Experience with union workforce desired.
· Ability to work independently, strong communication skills with ability to influence behaviors.
· Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
· Bi-lingual desired.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $62.81 - $66.13 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
