What We’re Looking For

A General Construction Technician at Binford Electric is a key role with a diverse range of responsibilities that require both technical expertise and leadership skills. The technician will be responsible for overseeing project sites, managing sub-contractors, and performing trade-specific tasks. 

Binford Electric provides services for some of the largest institutions in the country. The ideal candidate would possess a strong physical aptitude, reliability, and professionalism, which are crucial for the various duties involved in those construction and maintenance projects.

What You’ll Do

Leadership:

• Acting job supervisor for sub-contractors
• Overseeing project sites
• Communicating with all personnel as needed

Site Preparation & Maintenance:

• Cleaning and preparing the construction site by removing debris and hazards
• Maintaining a clean and organized work area and company vehicle
• Ensuring all high-traffic work areas are managed to maintain business as usual

Material Handling:

• Loading and unloading building materials, tools, and equipment
• Transporting materials to the correct location on the site
• Assisting with the storage and organization of materials

Skilled Trades Tasks:

• Assisting other tradespeople (i.e. electricians, framers/carpenters, painters) with specific tasks outside your trade
• Following instructions and directions from supervisors and other skilled tradespeople on projects where your trade skills are not utilized

General Labor & Construction Tasks: 

• Erecting, framing and finishing interior structures
• Removing and re-installing various styles of flooring
• Repairing interior damage, blemishes, etc.
• Operating and maintaining various tools and machines 
• Performing basic construction tasks/cleaning of job sites after work is completed
• Landscaping maintenance

What We Need

Skills:

Candidates with specific trade skills/certifications will be considered immediately – particularly those with experience in:

• • Electrical
• • Framing and finish work/Carpentry
• • Concrete/Asphalt
• • Roofing
• • Plumbing
• • Painting
• • HVAC

Requirements:

Candidates must be able to:

1. Pass a background check

2. Pass a drug test

3. Provide proof of a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation to Binford headquarters

4. Work a varying schedule and be willing to travel out of state

- daytime hours

5. Diploma or equivalent preferred but not required
