JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education: Graduate of or eligible to graduate from a recognized, approved AMA program. Associate or Bachelor degree preferred.
Required Licenses / Certifications: Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or registry eligible with certification by the ARRT pending. BLS required.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge and understanding of general anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Knowledge and ability to get radiographs of anatomy in proper positioning Ability to manipulate equipment to produce radiographs Basic computer knowledge. Must also be trained on any new equipment acquired by the Radiology dept. and checked off as trained on a specific training checklist.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Prepares patients for procedures providing instructions to obtain desired results while reducing patient anxiety. Familiar with and able to operate equipment, including rad/fluoro rooms, portable x-ray equipment, ultrasound, and portable fluoro safely and efficiently. Able to process x-ray films and/or compile ultrasound films as they are printed to the laser printer. Interacts with patient and family in a professional manner, Familiar with and able to do paperwork related to x-ray and ultrasound examinations, including but not limited to, ordering exam and/or retrieving order, completing paperwork correctly, finding file folder, completing exam and following fiscal responsibilities correctly and completely. Able to determine most suitable positions for exams while considering patients abilities and physical condition. Assists Radiologist with exams as needed. Familiar with exams and knows where supplies are as requested by Radiologist. Interviews patients and reviews available clinical data from charts to be alert for contradictions for procedure.
Will also include Independently implementing the nursing process with patients to promote service excellence in the physician’s office setting. Renders professional nursing care (includes rooming patients, vitals, phlebotomy, clia waved lab tests) for the comfort and wellbeing of the patient while providing education and support to each client with whom the physician comes in contact. Demonstrates the commitment to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families by fostering communication, teamwork, trust and exceptional patient care. Supports care coordination, quality improvement, team huddles, and other duties that help foster the Patient Centered Medical Home model.
