Job Summary: Bingham & Taylor is seeking a skilled Pour Deck Operator to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for using hoist and hand tools to move jackets and weights on to and off of molds to prepare for iron pourers, moving completed molds to shake out and dump the molds. They will also operate hand-controlled mechanisms to pour and regulate the flow of molten iron into molds to produce castings, and regulate the flow of molten iron into ladles. These duties will all be performed within safety, quality, and production standards. Fluency in English is required for this position, as effective communication is essential for successful job performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Move and position jackets, weights, and molds.
- Pull levers to operate the dump station to deposit completed molds in shake out belt.
- Return the boards to the molding area.
- Add cold iron as needed to adjust the temperature of iron in the ladle.
- Pour and regulate the flow of molten metal into molds and forms to produce castings, using ladles or hand-controlled mechanisms.
- Pull levers to lift ladle stoppers and to allow molten iron to flow into molds to specified heights.
- Remove solidified steel or slag from pouring nozzles, using long bars.
- Skim slag or remove excess iron from equipment, using hand tools, strainers, rakes, or burners; collect scrap for recycling.
- Move and position shuttle ladle.
- Pour and regulate the flow of molten metal into pouring ladles using ladle and hand-controlled mechanisms.
- Take taps from the furnace over to the pouring deck.
- Take chemistry samples from the ladle and adding ladle inoculant to the stream of the iron when the furnace taps into the ladle.
- Responsible for weekend repair work when needed.
- Maintain housekeeping and 6s daily.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous manufacturing, warehousing or industrial experience preferred.
- Demonstrated stable work history preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Detail oriented and committed to quality and safety.
- Physical Requirements: This position may require frequent bending, lifting, and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Employees should be able to perform this duty with or without reasonable accommodations.
