Lifeguard Rangers are here to bring the FUN! While fun is our name, safety is our game! As a lifeguard at Binghamton Jellystone Park, you will be responsible for lifesaving and first-responder duties at our Splashtown Floating Obstacle Course on our central lake. Along with typical lifeguarding duties you are also responsible for proper Splashtown safety training and enforcement on the equipment, cleaning of water equipment, upkeep of the beach and dock areas, and making sure all water fun equipment is picked up and put away. You may be required to help with the installation and de-installation of the course with our Aquatics Supervisor before and/or after the camping season. At Binghamton Jellystone Park we are a team and help in all other aspects of camp- you may step into another role when needed. We are looking for lifeguard rangers who will go above and beyond for our campers, have an energetic and friendly demeanor, and a can-do attitude! We are memory-makers and WOW moment creators!

Job Qualifications
- You must be at least 16 years of age
- Ability to work in the state of New York
- Have a valid NYS work permit/certificate(s)
- Have a valid Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED certification(s) OR be willing to train, test, and certify (class and certification test provided by the Campground if hired.)
- Ability to observe all sections of assigned areas of responsibility
- Pass the swim and rescue test given by our Aquatics Supervisor
- Must have open water certification OR be able to pass this course with our Aquatics Supervisor
- Be comfortable working with children and messes (ex: chocolate syrup slip n’ slide)
- Heavy lifting required in lifesaving maneuvers
- Be comfortable working indoors/outdoors regardless of weather conditions
- May be required to handle cleaning chemicals and supplies, inflatable cleaners, pool/water chemicals and supplies, etc.
- This role is part-time and requires full availability for any shift, including nights, weekends, holidays, and you must be able to work a minimum of 3 days per week if needed. (Please note that busy camping days are Thursdays-Sundays and holidays like Memorial and Independence Days)
For currently certified Lifeguards - As a condition of hiring Lifeguard candidates need to be able to demonstrate the following proficiently to the satisfaction of the Aquatics Supervisor:
- Swim 150 yards with proper form including proper breathing technique using breaststroke or freestyle (or both).
- Immediately following the 150-yard swim, tread water without hands for two minutes.
- Immediately following treading water, swim another 50 yards with the same strokes as above.
- Within 1 minute, 40 seconds, swim 20 yards, dive headfirst, and retrieve a 10 lb brick, and return 20 yards.
- Demonstrate all rescues proficiently. (Active, passive, with front and rear approaches, submerged passive (timed from start to finish at 60 seconds), and multiple-victim rescues).
For those who are willing to train, test, and certify as Lifeguards - As a condition of hiring Lifeguard candidates need to be able to demonstrate the following proficiently to the satisfaction of the Aquatics Supervisor:
- Swim 150 yards with proper form including proper breathing technique using breaststroke or freestyle (or both).

General Responsibilities
- Have a valid Lifeguard Waterfront /First Aid/CPR/AED certification(s) OR be willing to train, test, and certify (class and certification test provided by the Campground if hired.)
- Ability to observe all sections of assigned areas of responsibility
- Pass the swim and rescue test given by our Aquatics Supervisor
- Train/Assist in the installation/de-installation and upkeep of the Aquaglide floating obstacle course.
- Train/Enforce the rules of the Aquaglide floating obstacle course
- Assist in the upkeep and cleaning of all boats, kayaks, paddleboards, beach area, life jackets, etc.
- Be comfortable working with children and messes (ex: chocolate syrup slip n’ slide)
- Heavy lifting required in lifesaving maneuvers
- Be comfortable working indoors/outdoors regardless of weather conditions.
- Water, sunscreen, and bug spray will be provided by the Campground.
- May be required to handle cleaning chemicals and supplies, inflatable cleaners, pool/water chemicals, and supplies, etc.
Salary : $18 - $20
