Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)
Salary: $58,000 - $60,000
As a unit within the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the Multicultural Resource Center (MRC) collaborates with more than 90 culturally diverse student organizations on campus. The MRC further advances the diversity mission of the University by working closely with various offices and departments to provide quality programming and other resources that support the recruitment, retention, and personal and professional development of all ethnically and socially diverse student groups. The ideal candidate will join the MRC staff which includes an assistant director, a coordinator, and an office manager. All staff within the MRC report to the Director of Intercultural Affairs.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide administrative and programmatic oversight for the center and its initiatives, which include budget, marketing, communications, and outreach efforts.
- Coordinate, plan, and lead MRC signature programming such as the Men of Color Summit, Women of Color Summit, Cultural Recognition Ceremony, and others as deemed appropriate.
- Maintain the budget for the center's programs.
- Coordinate and manage the monthly MRC micro-grants and ensure student programming is completed in accordance with grant applications.
- Coordinate orientation, training, and onboarding for MRC student staff in collaboration with the Division's Associate Director of Operations
- Compile quarterly and annual reports promptly with the Director of Intercultural Affairs on programming conducted in the center and in collaboration with campus partners and the greater community.
- Work with faculty and staff across the campus to provide greater support to students.
- Organize student volunteers for major campus initiatives associated with the MRC.
- Serve as a facilitator for workshops designed for student programming.
- Manage and coordinate monthly meetings with student organizations such as the Cultural Community Council (C3) and its Vice President of Multicultural Affairs
- Coordinate and conduct public presentations to promote MRC services, programs, and collaborative activities.
- Supervise student managers, graduate assistants, paraprofessionals, and volunteer staff.
- Provide support and advise cultural student groups where possible, more specifically but not limited to African American, Latine, Native American/Alaskan Native, cultural Greek-lettered student organizations, and others as deemed appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with other MRC Staff to coordinate campus-wide programs and manage communications with the campus and greater community regarding announcements and activities for diverse populations.
- Develop a comprehensive programming calendar in advance of each semester that includes signature programs and events connected to heritage months, celebratory days, and current events/relevant topics.
This is an in-person position.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse groups and constituencies, representing a variety of identities including, but not limited to: African/African American/Black, Arab/Arab American, Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander, Latine, Native American/Alaskan Native, Multiracial, International, religiously diverse, LGBTQ , and/or other diverse identities in a higher education environment.
- Experience conducting campus-wide programs, event development, organization/community building, and/or advising.
- Programming and leadership experience.
- Willingness and ability to observe a variable schedule, including occasional weekend and evening events.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously in a time-sensitive environment.
- Must be detail and service-oriented.
- Excellent written, oral, interpersonal communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred:
- Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs Administration, Ethnic or Cultural Studies, or a relevant field.
- Minimum of two years progressively demonstrated experience in cultural student and/or campus-wide programming.
- Assessment reporting experience on the effectiveness of initiatives that impact cultural student persistence in higher education.
- Experience in collaborating with community organizations.
