Binghamton University invites applications for the role of Construction Project Site Coordinator, in the department of Planning and Construction Management within Facilities Management. This position would report to the Assistant Director of Construction Management. The Construction Project Site Coordinator position is a salaried, professional position that will be filled by a candidate with a construction management, site superintendent, architectural or engineering education and / or experiential background. The selected candidate will work alongside Facilities Management staff, University Designers (Architects, Engineers, & Landscape Architects), as well as other on-campus departments, outside contractors, and consultants throughout the design and construction of projects.
The successful candidate can anticipate being assigned to key projects essential for maintaining campus facilities. As the campus continues to grow, these projects will include new developments, ongoing renovations, and larger-scale renovations, in which the successful candidate will play a significant role.
Responsibilities of the successful candidate will include, but not be limited to :
- Act as the primary contact for assigned projects from planning through project execution; focusing on campus requirements, impacts, budgets & schedules;
- Monitor & report on contractor performance, assuring compliance with contract documents;
- Monitor & report on the construction schedule & contractor's work plan;
- Review design & construction documents, & keep working construction documents current;
- Manage requests for information (RFIs), provide construction document interpretations & assist with RFI responses as required;
- Manage & assist in the review or coordination of submittals;
- Manage proposed changes to project scope, observe & document any time & materials related changes to the project scope, authorize and generate change orders;
- Attend & document project related meetings;
- Confirm completed work & stored materials, authorize payment applications;
- Coordinate, observe, review and report on special inspection testing required for the project;
- Maintain office and project records and documentation according to established procedures;
- Prepare daily site visit reports, recording information such as site activities & work being performed, weather conditions, daily contractor staffing, directives or interpretations provided, issues, & safety concerns;
- Observe & report on jobsite organization, cleanliness, safety & fire safety;
- Track & oversee that project related warranty items are resolved, review & see that turnover items & closeout documentation is complete and submitted to Facilities Management Operations staff at conclusion of project;
- Coordinate with campus departments, including Facilities Management, Building Supervisors, University Police, Parking Services, etc. when necessary;
- Have awareness of NYS Building Code, OSHA safety & environmental requirements in relation to construction procedures;
- Utilize office and construction software(s) for communications, scheduling and construction observation and reporting processes.
The successful candidate will be a proactive, self-motivated professional with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; who possess the ability to maintain collaborative relationships and adapt to change while handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
Onsite, daily site presence is expected. Due to the nature of the work, this position may require a non-standard work schedule with the ability to respond to off-hour emergencies.
This is a 100% salaried professional position, United University Professions represented with annual renewal requirements; and is eligible for an excellent NYS benefits package.
