Our Construction Management team has an immediate need for a Construction Observer. In this role, you will be responsible for the daily inspection of construction work to ensure the project is in compliance with plans and specifications. Must be able to provide solutions to issues that may come up on the project and is required to document work daily.

What You Will Do
- Under the review and direction of the Project Manager, perform field inspection and oversight of highway and bridge construction activities.
- Attend pre-construction meetings and answers questions from contractors and other attendees.
- Perform engineering-related planning, design, data collection, inspections, assessments, analysis, and review.
- Analyze procedures to identify deficiencies; recommend improvements to management.
- Review equipment utilization data and time and cost estimates.
- Review contract documents to verify compliance with governmental regulations and conformance with project requirements.
- Monitor project phasing and traffic control plans and ensure compliance with approved safety standards; inspect barricades as required; move traffic control devices and barricades.
- Observe quality assurance testing and review test results for conformance with contract requirements.
- Oversee construction record-keeping activities; recommend payments to contractors; recommend change orders, extra work orders/supplemental agreements; revies proposed change orders submitted by consultants; prepare reports.
- Serve as a lead worker or project leader.
- Document work progress and issues arising throughout scope of project through daily work reports submitted to Project Manager.
- Required to work overtime as necessary which may include night shifts and/or flexible schedules.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1-3 years of construction roadway and bridge inspection.
- Valid Class C driver’s license.
- Knowledge of pavement construction, resurfacing, rehabilitation, and repair of asphalt and concrete pavement.
- Thorough knowledge of TxDOT specifications and standards preferred.
- Experienced in applying basic mathematical equations.
- Experienced in surveying procedures, standards and instruments.
- Experienced with Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD).
- Certifications through TxAPA, ACI, SWPPP, and OSHA required.
- Familiarity with Site Manager and/or Primavera preferred, but not required.
