Position: Assistant Controller
Location: Belmont, NC
Hours: Monday-Friday
Pay: $55,000-$75,000 (Negotiable based on experience)
Benefits: Full benefits (Health, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401K, ESOP)
Position Description
The Assistant Controller is responsible for assisting the Company’s controller. Under direction of the Controller, this position will help overseeing general accounting work for the $12M company including processing journal entries and reconciling general ledger accounts; helping supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll; and other reporting and accounting needs as requested by management.
Essential Job Functions
- Assist is preparing monthly financial statements, report packages, and financial presentations for the management team.
- Ensure accounts payable are paid timely
- Ensure accounts receivable are collected promptly
- Ensure payroll is processed without fail on a weekly basis
- Maintain chart of account and handle bank reconciliations
- Communicate with the management team on findings and present results at monthly management meetings, using both Navision and Excel
- Maintain good record keeping and internal controls
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Working with ACH and wire payments.
Qualifications
- Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, experience with Navision software a plus
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
- Ability to prioritize and work in a multi-tasked environment
- Customer service focused
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Education and Experience
- From a 4-year college or university preferred
- 1-3 years of experience in management accounting, financial reporting, and income tax filing
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) a plus
- 1-2 years of supervisory experience
- Previous Accounting experience in a construction or trades industry highly preferred
