JOB SUMMARY:
This position provides general assistance to the legal team including drafting various legal documents, agreements, contracts, letters, and legal memoranda with precision and clarity in the areas of litigation and employment. You will interact with other departments, internal and external clients, outside counsel, vendors, and others, including leaders in the organization.
This role is required to work in the Durham, NC office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Litigation Support:
- Assist with ongoing disputes and litigation.
- Research law issues as needed.
- Support of Senior Attorneys:
- Assist with certain contract matters, corporate governance matters, human resource matters, participate/ and or coordinate special projects for the legal team as assigned.
- Manage relationships and coordinate work product with outside service providers and outside legal counsel.
- Helps coordinate contract requests in an efficient manner and assists in assessment of business partner’s needs with such requests.
- Deadline and Calendar Management:
- Maintain deadlines, generate status reports, and ensure timely completion of tasks. Demonstrate strong skills in managing calendars.
- Schedule, coordinate, and assist with meetings, logistics, materials, minutes, and written resolutions.
- Partner with other teams within the company and external parties to ensure efficient workflow and handling of requests.
- Technology:
- Maintain, and/or manage one or more department workflow processes. Repots, tools or databases.
- Assists in the preparation of documents for organization in the legal document database and file as appropriate.
- Financial Acumen:
- Support outside counsel billing and administration.
- All other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, paralegal certificate required.
- 2 years of law firm and/or in-house experience working with employment and litigation matters.
- Ability to manage numerous diverse project that require interaction with multiple attorneys, departments, and internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and project management skills. Attention to detail and accuracy a must.
- Experience with drafting contracts and memos.
- Strong experience handling employment-related litigation, including evidence preservation and document collection, and drafting and tracking appropriate documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Strong written and communication skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and legal environments.
