What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tipping Floor General Laborer position at Bioenergy Devco?
Bioenergy Devco is seeking a General Laborer for our state-of-the-art Anaerobic Digestion facility in Jessup, Maryland. The General Laborer is responsible for performing a variety of tasks including handling materials, maintaining cleanliness and organization of the site, and assisting other team members with daily operations. This on-site position will report to the Waste Receiving Floor Supervisor & Waste Receiving Asst. Plant Manager.
\n- Assist with routine plant operations, including material handling and equipment monitoring
- Unload organic waste, depalletizing and/or unpackaging materials as needed
- Inspect incoming loads, sort and separate organic materials and contaminants according to company procedures
- Perform general maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, painting and minor repairs; tasks to include sweeping, power-washing, trash/debris/snow removal, regular sanitation of machinery, equipment and work areas
- Perform entry level maintenance tasks, identifying and reporting and maintenance and safety appropriate personnel
- Adhere to all safety regulations and always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Provide support to machine operators, maintenance mechanics, customers and others, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager on duty to ensure smooth operation of the facility
- HS General Education Degree or equivalent
- Previous experience in waste management, recycling, or industrial setting preferred
- Basic understanding of safety procedures and ability to follow instructions
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools
- Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team
- Must be able to climb ladders and stairs to access various areas of the facility.
- Must have the physical strength to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50lbs pounds.
- Capable of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and climbing as necessary throughout the shift.
- Able to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, including exposure to high and low temperatures, humidity, rain, and wind.
- Capable of withstanding strong or unpleasant odors and common food allergens
- May need to be harnessed to safety reach areas of the facility for maintenance or inspection, sometimes at heights or in confined spaces.
- Must be comfortable working at elevated heights or in confined spaces as part of routine duties.
- Must have adequate vision, hearing, and dexterity to perform duties safely and effectively, with or without assistive devices or accommodations.
- Capable of communicating effectively in an industrial setting to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary, which may include respiratory protection, gloves, hard hats, and protective clothing.
