BIOFerm, a Madison, WI based renewable energy company, is hiring a Construction Site Manager to oversee on-site construction efforts to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with the design, budget and schedule – all in a safe manner. This position will require travel for projects. The responsibilities will vary for each project but generally will include some or all of the following :
Essential Job Functions :
- Manage master construction budget and schedule
- Have a firm understanding of the project contract, including deliverables for each milestone
- Conduct regular meetings with and provide reports to senior management on progress and schedule / budget updates, ensuring timely decision making and information flow to avoid project delays
- Review and become knowledgeable of project plans and specifications
- Assist in the development of project schedule with specific focus on individual task duration
- Review all drawings, e.g., shop, architectural, structural, etc., when they are issued to the field and maintain a current set at all times
- Coordinate and manage on-site construction activities from start-up to completion
- Supervise employees and subcontractors on site, maintain work schedules, allocate tasks, and monitor progress to stay on schedule
- Determine materials, equipment and tools needed for the project
- Interface with subcontractors, clients, suppliers and others in a professional manner
- Assist in ensuring customer satisfaction with the project
- Mobilize and close out construction site
- Conduct regular job site meetings
- Follow standard safety procedures to protect everyone on-site and the surrounding environment
- Maintain all general record keeping for on-site activities, including daily reports, project issues, purchasing / receiving logs, and budget
- Manage effective written and verbal communication process among all internal and external project stakeholders
- Report project’s status to management team on a regular basis
- Collaborate with the Engineering department on initial project conception and cost estimates during the due diligence phase, during construction, and post-construction to continuously improve methods and materials.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of ever-changing construction practices, materials, building codes and OSHA requirements.
- Evaluate and recommend construction methods to increase quality and profitability.
- Serve as on-site Safety Officer, leading efforts to promote safety on projects and monitors subcontractor’s work in complying with the company’s safety program
- Perform other tasks as assigned
