- Must have a law degree from a recognized university and be admitted to a recognized bar
- Must have 3 years of experience gained in law firm and/or in-house setting
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization
- Strong negotiating skills with both legal and financial/commercial issues
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within the organization and across all businesses
- Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
- Proven ability to provide competent legal advice and counsel on a wide range of legal and policy issues
- Desire and determination to become a subject-matter expert over time to support the company
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through, and meet deadlines
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
- Must be authorized to work for any company in the United States. Must not require sponsorship, or continued sponsorship to work for any company in the United States
- Structuring, drafting, and negotiating a wide variety of complex commercial agreements on behalf of the company to meet legal objectives
- Developing and improving templates for routine contracts
- Offering counsel on a variety of legal issues to promote and protect the company’s matters
- Advising executives within the company
- Working alongside other departments within the company and external parties
- Providing contract training to appropriate employees
- Advising on contract status, legal risks, and the legal liabilities associated with different deals
- Maintaining company legal directory and document control
- Researching and anticipating unique legal issues that could impact the company
- Developing methods, approaches, and evaluation criteria for advising the business on level of risk
- Identifying proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate risks
- Establishing a proactive, engaged partnership with company executives to prevent or reduce the unnecessary escalation of issues
- Resolving issues that arise in existing commercial relationships
- Developing and leading internal audits and corporate compliance initiatives
- Reviewing advertising and marketing materials to ensure that they are legally and company compliant
- Managing the Company’s IP portfolios and ensuring legal compliance (including trademarks, patents, copyrights, and trade secrets)
- Keeping abreast of legislative changes
- Providing training to the company on relevant legal topics
- Attending industry policy groups and being visible at renewable legislative sessions
- Handling outreach on government affairs
- Representing board in environmental, social, and sustainability issues
- Basing decision making process on ethics and integrity
- Performing other legal responsibilities as assigned
