This laboratory position will perform cell isolations using sterile technique
REQUIRED: This position will ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies, State Departments of Health, Good Documentation Practices (GDP), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Clinical Practices (GCP), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), EMEA and FDA Guidelines, general State and Country Regulations such as but not limited to (CLIA, CAP, USP, ISO 9001, USDA regulations, HTA license, DEA and State Controlled Substance programs) where site appropriate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Work independently on customer orders and follow established SOPs to work with blood products to isolate immune cell products following established SOPs
- Using flow cytometer to perform QC checks on isolated cells
- Perform cell cultures and sterility testing on products.
- Basic haematology testing – Preparation of slides for cell counting and staining
- Preparing culture media, chemicals, reagents and solutions.
- Performing daily, weekly, monthly and annual QC on all equipment as required by laboratory SOPs.
- Handling inventory and preparing cellular products and affiliated documentation for shipment to client.
- Maintain and build the laboratory’s inventory.
- Order and maintain the supplies of the laboratory.
- Assisting in the validation of new laboratory procedures and techniques.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) from four-year college or university in a biological or chemical science field or equivalent experience required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Required
- None required.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of basic cell biology, including cell types and their functions
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex SOPs
- Superior organizational and time-management skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills and be ability to work effectively with other team members
- Basic computer skills with capacity to work efficiently with large data sets
- Prior experience in a high-throughput research laboratory or clinical diagnostic laboratory working with blood and/or blood products preferred
- A working knowledge of flow cytometry preferred
- Familiarity with cell culture, cell separation methods (e.g. magnetic bead) and aseptic technique preferred

Lab / Lab Support - While performing the duties of this job, frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials. The employee has potential for exposure to fumes, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals, biohazards, flammable liquids, risk of radiation. The employee is occasionally required to use equipment with moving mechanical parts, with risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, at times, the noise level can be louder and hearing protection may be required. The employee may work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
A full-time Monday through Friday workweek with general business hours.
