Senior Scientist

Biolojic Design is hiring a Senior Scientist in the field of autoimmune diseases (AID) in Washington, DC. The base salary range for this position is $110,000 to $150,000 annually, plus bonus potential.

We are seeking a motivated Ph.D. scientist to join us as a key player in the Drug Discovery department and contribute to the development of novel targeted therapeutics for AID. As an R&D scientist, you will conduct or supervise in vitro and in vivo experiments to support pre-clinical projects within Biolojic’s AID pipeline.

The successful candidate will work at the JLABS Life Science Incubator in Washington, D.C. This state-of-the-art facility is located on Children’s National Hospital’s Research and Innovation Campus that houses new lab and office space where Biolojic will develop novel medicines for cancer patients and those suffering from autoimmune diseases.

Key responsibilities:

• A core member of a discovery project team
• Independent development, performance, interpretation, and troubleshooting of a broad range of in vitro assays using cultured and primary (e.g. hPBMCs and patient-derived) human cells, flow cytometry, immunophenotyping and other immunological assays
• Designing and implementing in vivo pharmacology studiesInnovation and expansion of our assay portfolio by identifying, evaluating, and implementing new assay technologies through literature research.
• Data analysis, documentation, and presentation of scientific and experimental results
• Meeting project goals and timelines

Essential Requirements:

• PhD. in biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, immunology, pharmacology or a related field
• 10 years in immunology research or any related field.
• Experience in cell-based immunological assays, such as T cell activation, T cell and NK cell-mediated toxicity, immune cell differentiation, is preferred.
• Extensive experience with multispectral flow cytometry (8 colors) and immunophenotyping
• Enthusiasm for immunology and science
• Team player with good interpersonal skills and experience working collaboratively in a matrixed environment
• Ability to work and think independently as well as part of a team
• Fast learner, multitasker, well-organized with the ability to keep accurate records
• Experience preparing and delivering oral presentations and written scientific reports (e.g. manuscripts, patents, regulatory documents)

Desired Requirements:

• Previous work experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry
• Knowledge and experience with drug development
• Previous work experience with hPBMCs & the isolation and characterization of primary human T and NK cells
• Knowledge of antibody discovery, engineering and high-throughput functional screening
• Publications in high quality/high impact scientific journals
• Managerial experience in an academic or pharmaceutical field
