What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instrument Repair Technician position at bioMérieux?

Position Summary
This is a full time non-exempt position. Responsible for troubleshooting and repair of clinical and commercial products. Operates electrical and mechanical test equipment. Responsible for performing a wide variety of electronic or electro-mechanical operations on assemblies or sub-assemblies. Works on assignments where judgment and initiative is required in resolving problems and making recommendations.
Primary Duties
- Performs all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of bioMerieux’s Quality System.
- Follow written work instructions and collect all relevant data.
- Troubleshoots electromechanical problems
- Works with Engineering/Production to implement design and/or process improvements
- Maintains records that comply with regulatory requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Consults with customer service, instrument production, etc. as needed.
- Responsible for maintaining parts and materials in service area.
Training, Education, Experience
- Associates degree in technical discipline and/or related on the job training or certifications. One or more years of experience at BioMerieux in a related role will also be considered.
- 2 years experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to use specialized equipment, read instructions, maintain written records, work from established drawings. Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and written. Experience with soldering, multimeter usage a plus.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain in stationary position, often standing, for prolonged periods.
- Ability to adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions
- May be required to work while wearing personal protective gear
