Brief Description
The Strategic Partnerships Manager will support the growth, impact, and strength of BioMADE’s connections with diverse stakeholders. This position will contribute to the organization’s strategic plan and development of long-term initiatives, while managing day-to-day activities in support of partner and stakeholder identification, recruitment, engagement, and stewardship.
This position will lead BioMADE’s prospect research for new stakeholder categories, develop operational structures and resources for portfolio management, design new value offerings, manage a portfolio of primary relationships, and create customized engagement and stewardship plans.
The Strategic Partnerships Stewardship & Portfolio Manager will work closely alongside BioMADE’s Strategy & Bioeconomic Development unit, Membership team, and Infrastructure staff, and they will collaborate across BioMADE’s three Programs teams.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Portfolio and Relationship Management
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships that support BioMADE’s bioeconomic development, technology and innovation, education, and workforce development, 4S, and infrastructure goals. This includes industry and defense companies (B2B and B2C), philanthropies, trade organizations, non-profits, and finance and investment organizations.
- Conduct research and provide briefing documents on prospective partners and current stakeholders, including due diligence screening and information on their technologies, business areas, partnerships with other organizations, and financials.
- Develop and implement a portfolio management system and processes to track member and stakeholder engagement. Manage ongoing portfolio assignments and develop training resources for relationship managers.
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of 100 prospective partners and current stakeholders, with a focus on relationships that support BioMADE’s infrastructure and program initiatives.
- Support Director of Strategic Partnerships with developing customized high-impact, high-engagement experiences for key members and stakeholders.
- Serve as project manager for BioMADE’s strategic relationships initiatives, managing schedules, preparing meeting materials and presentations, and developing reports on the progress of engagements.
- Work with Director of Strategic Partnerships to develop, update, and support the Membership & Strategic Partnerships strategic plan.
- Solicit, evaluate, and report on sources of member and stakeholder feedback and develop strategies to strengthen BioMADE’s value proposition.
- Conduct benchmarking on other associations, manufacturing innovation institutes, and consortia to identify new benefits to offer to BioMADE’s members and stakeholders.
- Add and maintain data on BioMADE stakeholders in the Salesforce CRM. Work closely with BioMADE’s Membership Program Administrator and Salesforce Administrator on database enhancements.
- Support the Strategic Relationships team with the planning and production of stakeholder cultivation and engagement activities, conference attendance, and events.
- Work in collaboration with staff throughout the organization to support additional stakeholder engagement activities.
- Develop comprehensive knowledge of BioMADE programs, policies, and activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
- BA/BS degree in a relevant field plus four years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Strong project and relationship management skills with ability to coordinate multiple activities and oversee simultaneous projects.
- Prior experience in a nonprofit, economic development, or government organization; preferably those with a focus on public-private partnerships, science, education, or workforce.
- Prior experience supporting professional association or membership organizations.
- Prior experience working in a start-up company or fast-paced environment preferred.
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms or complex databases; Salesforce experience is preferred.
- Ability to thrive in a quick-paced environment, collaborate across teams, be agile in challenging situations, and an enthusiastic fast learner.
- Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving, process improvement, and researching new topics with strong decision-making capability.
- Strong interpersonal skills, presentation skills, and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365 platform
- This position may require occasional travel.
- Interest in science and technology commercialization or innovation settings preferred.
