Job Title: Night Shift Millwright
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Maintenance Superintendent
GENERAL PURPOSE of JOB
Installs, maintains and repairs machinery and equipment to support plant operations by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Tests, visually and through vibration testing, and dimensionally monitors and inspects equipment to ensure that equipment is operating within design specifications.
- Tests equipment, prior to operation, to ensure its operability.
- Sets up and operates hand tools, power tools, and stationary powered lathes, drill presses and other related equipment.
- Reads blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
- Dismantles machines. Moves machinery and equipment.
- Assembles and installs equipment such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails.
- Constructs foundation for machines. Aligns and balances machines and equipment.
- Assembles machines, and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structures.
- Operates engine lathe to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.
- Designs, fabricates and installs equipment.
- Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment.
- Initiates purchases of necessary parts and supplies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Millwright Journey Certificate or equivalent or working towards Certificate. Willing to train right candidate as apprentice.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
