EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY: Postdoctoral Research Associate
The Biomedical Research Institute (BRI) is an independent nonprofit organization which houses the Schistosomiasis Resource Center and the BRI Biorepository. In the 70 years since its founding, BRI has made seminal contributions to the laboratory maintenance of Schistosoma spp. life cycles; S. mansoni schistosomula ultrastructure, and cryopreservation techniques. BRI has supported schistosomiasis research through the distribution of Schistosoma spp. reagents and molecular products to investigators worldwide.
BRI invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate in the area of schistosomiasis, parasitology, and/or infectious diseases. Applicants must have a PhD, or equivalent, and a commitment to pursue funding opportunities and training grants. Successful candidates are experienced in cellular and molecular biology; mammalian cell culture; qRT-PCR; cytokine profiling, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, imaging techniques, and in vitro viability assays. Candidates demonstrate significant research accomplishments and will be able to grow and sustain an independent research program.

Qualifications
- PhD, or equivalent
- Publication(s) in peer-reviewed journals
- History of collaborative research projects and/or partnerships
- Excellent analytical, writing and verbal/communication skills
- Ability to lead independent research program
Responsibilities
- Lead experimental design and research objectives utilizing in vitro and in vivo models of schistosomiasis
- Identify funding opportunities in infectious diseases; manage submission timelines, applications, and objectives
- Develop new techniques and protocols to advance research objectives
- Maintain accurate databases, laboratory records, inventories, and logbooks
- Direct the preparation of data for presentations at scientific meetings, author SOPs, technical reports, publications
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
