Position Summary:

This is a supervisory position, responsible for providing support to Inventory Control team members to effectively cycle count inventory.

Responsible for daily cycle counting and audit activities in multiple warehouses. Activities include inventory counting, count auditing, variance identification, reconciliation, root cause analysis, and adjustment data entry into ERP system. Position will report to the Inventory Control Manager (ICM) and will assist manager to develop, implement, and maintain a robust cycle count program to ensure accuracy and integrity of inventory record during internal and external observation. Responsible to assist ICM in metrics reporting to other department senior managers. Metrics reporting will be performed monthly to area managers and quarterly to external department management.

Maintains training and performance records for team members, conducts interviews and assists in the new hire process, and assists in the creation of the weekly cycle audit schedule. Position will work closely with other departments to coordinate daily cycle count activities. Position will update count results in the ERP for the daily cycle count. Will approve the posting of physical counts in the ERP in accordance with established work instruction and approval limits. Will train new hires and team members on established work instruction and processes. Will participate in the updating and revision of work instruction and SOP. In the event that the ICM is absent, all assisting roles become primary roles.

Position uses SSMS (SQL) daily to query and update local databases. Employs advanced Excel tools using formulas, VLOOKUPs, Data Analysis, Pivot tables, and PowerPivot to collect, analyze, and organize data. Will present and document process improvement initiatives using MS office software to include Word, Visio, PowerPoint, and Project.

Analyst must possess excellent attention to detail and proven leadership potential. Excellent problem solving, analytical thinking, and communication skills are required. Knowledge of lean implementation, process improvement, and Six Sigma are required.


Primary Duties:

  • Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of BioFire Diagnostics’ Quality System.
  • Verify inventory adjustments are conducted per WID and are within authorized parameters.
  • Understand enterprise systems used by BioFire Diagnostics.
  • Update count results in ERP for daily cycle count and approve posting in the absence of the ICM.
  • Assist manager to validate, create, and maintain cycle audit schedule.
  • Perform cycle count activities to established work instruction and ensure team does likewise.
  • Verify count accuracy, variance reconciliation, and root cause analysis are done to WID standards prior to posting adjustment to inventory.
  • Adhere to published authorization requirements for adjustments made to inventory.
  • Record and maintain accurate log of count events.
  • Provide timely feedback to ICM or department director regarding observed practices in other departments that are deemed to cause inaccuracies in the integrity of the inventory record (standard and non-standard transactions, shelf life expiration, material mishandling, improper consumption against a BOM, etc.).
  • Document and present process improvement initiatives to ICM.
  • Oversee quarterly physical count observation and material preparation activities associated with the observation.
  • Will work closely with ICM and serve as an expert in inventory flow and inventory transaction related capacities to coordinate inventory control initiatives.
  • Provided training to material handlers working with inventory in BFDX storage locations.
  • Writes queries or reports, aggregates inventory data, and performs statistical analysis based on requests from manufacturing, materials management, quality, project teams, or senior leadership
  • Takes daily proactive measures to ensure a high degree of inventory accuracy.
  • Integrates data from multiple data sources or functional areas, ensures data accuracy and integrity, and updates data as needed.
  • Serve as an expert in all cycle count related capacities, interprets data to identify business trends, conducts root cause analysis of business problems, and suggests areas for process improvement to ICM when necessary.
  • Assist the ICM in mentoring, coaching and supervising team member performance and development. Provide performance evaluations to team members on a regular basis (at minimum an annual performance evaluation should be provided). Maintain performance record for each team member.
  • Responsible to assist ICM with metrics reporting to other departments.
  • Conducts interviews and participates in the new hire process.
  • All assisting roles become primary in the absence of the ICM.
  • Support the department director with special projects as needed.
  • Revises SOPs and WIDs when necessary.


Supplemental Data:

  • Supervise a team of 1-5 direct reports.
  • Occasional work on weekend days or after regular work hours may be required.
  • “In Town” travel between local warehouses required.
  • Shift start times are as follows: Day Shift - (4:45 AM) Mon-Fri with every other Friday off. Swing shift - (4:45 PM) Mon-Fri with every other Friday off. Weekend shift – (6am) Fri-Sun.
  • Satisfy inventory accuracy and counting schedule requirements outlined in 1C-WID-104 (Cycle Audit Process) and IC-WID-105 (Cycle Audit Contingency).


Training, Education and Experience:

College degree in business or analytics, or equivalent experience/certification preferred. High school diploma required.

  • 3 years warehouse, inventory control, lean implementation, or a combination required.
  • 1 year(s) data analysis required.
  • 1 year(s) Excel experience required.
  • 1 year(s) SQL experience required.
  • A minimum of 18 months experience gained at BioFire Diagnostics
  • College courses in Business, Operations, Supply Chain, Inventory Control, Accounting, Business Information Systems, and Analytics preferred.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have excellent attention to detail.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend documented inventory control procedures. Presentation skills required.
  • Must have SQL skills and demonstrate proficient use to query and update database.
  • Ability to proficiently employ advanced MS excel tools (including formulas, VLOOKUPs, Data Analysis, Pivot tables and Power Pivot), SQL, Tableau, SAP, and MS office Pro software (Word, Visio, PowerPoint, and Project) is required.
  • Experience with implementation of lean practices is required.
  • Knowledge of statistical programming languages in Python.
  • Must have clearly demonstrated leadership potential.


Physical Requirements:

Ability to remain in stationary position, often standing, for prolonged periods.

Ability to adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
