OVERVIEW:
Biometris Solutions, LLC invites applications for the position of COMPOST UTILITY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR I. Biometris Solutions, LLC is a service-disabled veteran-owned small business pioneering a transformative approach to poultry manure management with FRESHAIR™. Our composting method integrates advanced technology, such as compact compost aerators, telemetry, cloud-based computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and sustainable practices, such as carbon sequestration and solar energy, to power our fleet of electric vehicles. Our in-house composting system and a fleet of electric and diesel vehicles optimize resource utilization and minimize environmental impact.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
To operate equipment in support of the daily operations and maintenance of several composting facilities.
JOB SUMMARY:
- Conduct scheduled routine inspections and maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Inspect equipment prior to use and report any repair or maintenance needs.
- Fuel vehicles and equipment.
- Keep basic records of tasks performed using computerized and manual recordkeeping systems.
- Operate utility equipment and use hand tools to perform composting activities, custodial, and other processing duties.
- Use equipment to push, lift, pile, convey, place, mix, grind, screen, and spread composting materials as well as finished compost.
- Assist with building heaps, piles, and windrows in various phases.
- Collect scientific observations and enter data into electronic databases.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors immediately.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must possess all of the following:
- A valid California Class C driver’s license for positions performing on-the-job-driving.
- One (1) year of progressively responsible experience operating a variety of utility equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience operating loaders, skid-steers, compact track loaders, dump trucks, or similar utility equipment is highly desirable.
- Prior experience in composting operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Horticulture, or Agricultural Science.
- Familiarity with material handling equipment is a plus.
- Knowledge of farming site practices and procedures, including biosafety and biosecurity protocols.
EXAMPLES OF ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:
Knowledge of:
- Methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the operation and maintenance of a composting facility.
- Hazards and safety precautions of the work.
Ability to:
- Perform the more difficult and complex tasks of the crew.
- Use various hand tools.
- Safely operate a variety of utility equipment.
- Perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time.
- Understand verbal and written instructions.
- Understand and apply safety rules and procedures.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Background Checks: Biometris Solutions, LLC will conduct a background check and a reference check on candidates prior to their appointment to a position.
- Drug and Alcohol Testing: Incumbents and candidates applying for positions in this category may be subject to drug and alcohol testing as required under the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991. Testing includes post-accident and pre-employment, as well as random and reasonable suspicion testing as required by law.

SELECTION PROCESS:
- All applications will be reviewed to determine if the conditions and qualifications for testing are met.
- The selection process will consist of a written exam, which will be weighted at 30%, a performance exam, which will be weighted at 40%, and an interview, which will be weighted at 30%.
- Candidates must receive a qualifying score on each selection component to move forward in the selection process.
