As our first engineering hire, you'll play a critical role in shaping our technology and company from the ground up. You will be reporting directly to our CTO.
What You’ll Do
- Lead System Architecture & Development – Design and implement scalable software solutions to support complex biotech workflows and data management.
- Drive Technical Strategy – Make key decisions on technologies, frameworks, and infrastructure.
- Build & Ship Features – Develop and deploy full-stack applications using Python, React, Postgres, Mongo and AWS.
- Write High-Quality, Tested Code – Champion test-driven development (TDD) and ensure robust unit testing across the codebase.
- Integrate with Lab Hardware – Work on bridging software with biotech laboratory instruments and data systems.
- Set the Engineering Culture – Define best practices, mentor future hires, and lay the foundation for an exceptional technical team.
- 7 years of hands-on software development experience, including leading teams and designing scalable systems.
- Proficiency in Python, React, and AWS (Nice-to-have: PHP).
- Experience in architecting, deploying, and maintaining full-stack applications.
- Strong technical leadership skills with the ability to make high-impact decisions.
- Comfortable with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and unit testing.
- (Bonus) Familiarity with biotech laboratory hardware integration.
- Local to the San Francisco Bay Area – Must be available for in-person meetings at least once per week.
- U.S. Work Authorization Required – We cannot sponsor visas or hire candidates outside the United States.
