We are looking to hire a Health & Safety Manager in our Wiggins, MS paper mill. This important position leads organizational efforts to continuously strengthen the safety culture that embraces safe work practices while developing solutions to reduce risks of injury and eliminate hazards. Plans, directs, and implements organization of safety programs to ensure safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment. This highly visible role in BSP will report directly to the Mill Manager and play a key role in building a safe and high-performance environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Safety Management:
Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations that include:

- Arc Flash and Electrical Safety
- Heat Stress
- Ergonomics
- Fire Protection and Prevention
- First Aid and CPR
- Hazard Communication and Material Safety Data Sheets
- Dust Hazards
- Power Industrial Trucks
- Emergency Evacuation
- Fall Protection
- Machine Guarding
Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain Contractor Safety Program and training.
- Lead New Hire Safety Orientation and on boarding.
- Prepares studies and analysis of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies.
- Inspects facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
- Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
- Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies, such as OSHA 300 log.
- Oversees the administration of Workers' Compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to reduce employee lost time.
- Responsible for development and maintenance of all aspects of the facility's fire protection programs.
- Directs the Company Monthly Crew Meetings.
- Manages and Leads Central Safety Committee with Union.
- Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.
- Participates in companywide Safety meetings.
- Maintains safety files and records.

QUALIFICATIONS
Prefer 5 – 10 years of Industrial Safety Management experience. Professional Safety certifications desirable.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
