Field Water Quality Technician

Summary:

Bioscension is seeking a Field Sampling Specialist to perform onsite water sampling and testing at healthcare facilities. In this part-time role (2–3 days per month), the specialist will travel to client sites, primarily focusing on critical areas such as sterile processing departments, to collect water samples. The specialist will conduct basic onsite testing using field meters and chemical test kits for parameters like pH, conductivity, and temperature. For more detailed analysis, samples will be carefully packaged and shipped overnight to our core laboratory. The Field Sampling Specialist will be responsible for ensuring proper sample handling, maintaining accurate documentation, and reporting results to the Lab Director and Quality Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Sample Collection:

• Travel to client facilities and other field locations to collect water samples following established protocols and industry standards.
• Ensure proper labeling, handling, and preservation of samples to maintain sample integrity.
• Follow aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during sample collection.
• Work with client facility staff to coordinate access and sampling schedules.

Onsite Testing:

• Perform basic onsite water quality testing (e.g., pH, conductivity, and temperature) using portable analytical equipment.
• Accurately document and report test results.
• Identify and troubleshoot minor issues with sampling or testing procedures.
• Report test results and any issues or deviations to the Lab Director and Quality Manager.

Sample Handling and Shipping:

• Properly package and store samples to maintain sample integrity during transport.
• Prepare and ship samples overnight to the laboratory according to shipping regulations and company guidelines.
• Track sample shipments to confirm timely delivery.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Complete and submit chain of custody forms and other required documentation.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of sample collection, handling, and test results.
• Communicate any irregularities or deviations from protocols to the laboratory manager.

Qualifications:

• Associate or bachelor's degree in environmental science, microbiology, chemistry, or a related field preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in sample collection, laboratory work, or environmental testing preferred.
• Knowledge of water purification and filtration systems strongly recommended.
• Experience operating a spectrophotometer and other field instrumentation preferred.
• Strong understanding of aseptic techniques and sampling protocols.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively while in the field.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various environmental conditions.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively (including overnight stays).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
