As a Takeda MBA Intern, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to impactful projects that play a crucial role in shaping both our business and the well-being of patients. Within Global Insights & Analytics (GIA), you’ll be part of the Global Product & Launch Strategy (GPLS) commercial team. The primary focus of GPLS is to shape the global product strategy for Takeda’s early and late-stage pipeline assets. The GIA team are strategic thought partners within GPLS who catalyze data-driven decision making through deep customer and competitive insights, robust analytics and broad market expertise to shape Takeda’s pipeline and impact the lives of the patients we serve.

The GIA Early Pipeline MBA Intern will actively partner with GPLS and R&D early pipeline teams to shape the strategic plans for exciting and highly visible pipeline programs.

Project Outline

What To Expect

  • Sole responsibility for at least one insights project to be presented to cross-functional and GIA stakeholders by the end of the summer internship period.
  • Direct managerial support and coaching from a GIA Lead with opportunities for mentorship and coaching from commercial colleagues.
  • Exposure and networking opportunities with senior leaders within the Global Product & Launch Strategy team, and beyond


Project Goals

Projects are intended to develop insights skills, provide a sense of ownership and illuminate the breadth and diversity of an Insights & Analytics role within a global healthcare organization. The GIA Early Pipeline MBA Intern will get exposure to different functional areas within Takeda, including commercial, market access, medical affairs, R&D, program management. Through these projects, the intern will gain valuable experience communicating their ideas to a broad audience, understanding the broader context of their work and how it contributes to the organization.

  • Ideally, one project will be within your skill set, and another a stretch assignment.
  • One project will focus on a high priority indication identified in Takeda’s GI/Dermatology/Rheumatology Disease Area Strategies and another may have broader reach across the GIA function, such as process improvement projects regarding the guidelines for the scope of research to conducted on Early Pipeline assets.
  • Projects will encompass a mix of competitive intelligence, secondary market research and primary market research.
  • Intern will have the opportunity to support and/or shadow a GIA Lead on ad hoc projects to expand their reach within the GIA function.


Potential Projects Include

Assessing the commercial attractiveness of several indications and/or markets. Indications can be priorities from disease area strategy, programs that R&D is working, early pipeline indications where we have products already in development, and/or new approaches for life cycle management of current products on the market. When the individual is evaluating commercial attractiveness, they will have to:

  • Conduct ad hoc primary research on immediate requests from clinical, regulatory and commercial teams to inform strategic decisions. Interview internal stakeholders as well. This could include such discussion topics such as unmet need, use of current products, competitive intensity, commercial complexity, and capturing reactions to a Target Product Profile (TPP).
  • Analyze and identify implications and recommendations from secondary research reports about future competitors.
  • Develop competitive landscapes using secondary resources.
  • Build a market assessment, including a model with preliminary projections and high-level opportunity sizing.
  • Leverage critical and strategic thinking to develop objective recommendations to inform key decisions

Internship Eligibility

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2025 or later
  • The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates(June 2nd- August 22nd)or(June 16th -August 29th)
  • The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames
  • Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates


Requirements / Qualifications

  • Operates with a high level of integrity; able to uphold the Takeda values of Patient, Trust, Reputation, Business (PTRB).
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Enrolled in an accredited MBA Program.
  • Professional experience in life science, healthcare, marketing or analytics preferred.
  • Management Consulting experience highly preferred.
  • Must be enrolled in school the semester following your internshipwith Takeda.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications.
  • Experience conducting secondary “desk” market research, synthesizing learnings and making evidence-based recommendations strongly preferred.
  • Experience conducting qualitative and/or quantitative primary market research strongly preferred.
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Takeda does not provide sponsorship for internship positions.
  • Available to work full-time (40 hours per week), within the core business hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm, for 10 to 12 weeks during the summer months.
  • This is a hybrid position. In order to maximize their experience, the GIA Early Pipeline MBA Intern is expected to be in the office two to three days per week in Kendall Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.
  • Please note that Takeda does not provide intern housing or a housing stipend.

U.S. Hourly Wage Range

$21.00 - $46.00

The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of internship.The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. internship benefits vary by location and may include:
