The Associate Director-Cardiometabolic Health Communications is a critical member of the communications team. The position involves developing and leading the tactical execution of the cardiometabolic health communications strategy. Specifically, this role will lead implementation of external communications efforts including earned media, thought leadership, advocacy and activations and campaigns, while providing strategic support to other communication team members.
The Associate Director will work with U.S. and global business colleagues, including marketing, clinical development, medical affairs, corporate communications and investor relations. The candidate must approach the work with a Team Lilly mentality – in other words, be flexible and find ways to support the greater good.

Specific Responsibilities Include
- Develop creative communication campaigns that enhance relationships with key partners.
- Support data and regulatory achievements through critical communication plans.
- Serve as primary communications counsel for company spokespersons and other internal business partners.
- Manage day-to-day work with our PR agencies.
- Develop and edit communications for media such as press releases, internal Q&As, videos and fact sheets.
- Conduct and/or facilitate interviews with local, national, and international media outlets.
- Miscellaneous support of communication projects, including writing, issues management and critical thinking.
- Anticipate, prioritize, and prepare to manage possible negative issues in the media.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- Five years of communications and/or campaign execution experience (journalism, public relations, other communications roles, etc.) with a strong understanding of both traditional and social media and a vision for new innovative ways of communicating.
- Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.
- Experience in the development and execution of strategic and creative communications plans, including digital and social media.
- Successful experience working with cross-functional teams, including collaboration and consensus building.
- Demonstrated influence with business partners.
- Project management experience.
- Experience in media relations, including interacting with A-list media and serving as a spokesperson.
- PR agency management experience.
- Ability to manage issues/crises.
- Creative communications skills – written and verbal, as well as interpersonal.
- Domestic and some international travel required
