Role Summary BioMarin has experienced substantial growth organically since its inception, primarily over the last decade. While this steady growth in both cost structure and staff was essential to BioMarin’s emergence as a leading, fully integrated global biopharma with approximately $2 billion in revenues from over 75 countries, a robust R&D pipeline, operating profits, and world-class technical capabilities through its 3,000 employees: BioMarin leadership desires to optimize the efficiency of its operations for the future through its next phase of growth. BioMarin are in the process of implementing Phase 2 of a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system after a successful implementation of Phase 1 in January of 2025. An effective ERP will support bridging our planning, transactional processes, and information to meet the needs of a maturing and growing organization. Implementing a new ERP impacts the entire company – putting this system in place is equally complex and transformational. This OCM Communications and Engagement lead role will be a key ERP team member, leading in connecting and coordinating communication and engagement efforts throughout the enterprise. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end communication and engagement strategy and activities, applying a structured change management methodology, process, and tools to support the adoption of the changes required by the ERP program
  • Create and implement an effective communications and engagement strategy for the ERP program based on change readiness components
  • Develop and execute frequent and effective program wide and targeted communications related to changes in processes, strategies, training, and program outcomes with global stakeholders across multiple channels.
  • Build relationships and work closely with stakeholders to identify and address concerns related to the change program with a focus on communication and engagement mitigations
  • Play a leadership role in connecting and coordinating communication and engagement change management efforts across the different workstreams and supporting groups
  • The OCM Communications & Engagement lead will involve significant collaboration and partnership with the ERP team, including the SI, SAP, Business Sponsors, and other support personnel. This includes identifying ways to engage stakeholders to improve visibility, communications, and insightful analysis using internal and external data (e.g. benchmark data and & industry trends) to derive insights that will drive process adoption of the new ways of working using SAP.
  • Align communication and engagement change initiative(s) to strategic goals, vision, and objectives of the OCM plan initiative and organization
  • Identify, analyze, and prepare risk mitigation tactics to manage anticipated and persistent challenges of the new processes and ways of working
  • Define and measure success metrics and monitor change progress to enable the realization of expected benefits of the ERP change program and report on the status to the program leadership and broader organization
  • Own and lead the development of project communications and engagements such as the Project Website, Newsletters, Stakeholder updates, End User communications, and activation of our Change Champion network
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and encourage stakeholders to embrace change to drive growth and innovation


The OCM Communications & Engagement Lead will be a challenging role that requires a dynamic set of business and leadership skills, including the following:

  • Work collaboratively with the OCM Lead and Training Lead to contribute to the change program throughout the project life cycle, assist in mitigating resistance, adoption of new ways of working, and internal marketing campaigns for the Project.
  • Work experience in a similar transformational effort, such as an ERP S4/HANA program or similar enterprise/local deployment in the bio-pharma context is required.
  • This role requires exceptional written and oral communication skills, including the development of creative and visually appealing communications and internal marketing.
  • Certification as a Change Management Practitioner is preferred.
  • Able to understand and be compassionate to the stakeholders and capability to put yourself in their shoes.
  • Great collaborator across all BioMarin, Systems Integrator, and SAP personnel.
  • Effective communication, persuasion and influencing skills at all levels.
  • Ability to use data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Anticipating change management challenges to help program leadership resolve them quickly and efficiently.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships, influence others, forward looking with a holistic approach, and move toward a shared vision and goal.


Remote-based role requiring travel up to 5 days per month. BioMarin is headquartered in San Rafael, CA, and this role will be required to work a Pacific Time Zone schedule, with some exceptions.
