Position Summary
The Investigative ADME/Toxicology and BioAnalytical Research team focuses on drug discovery using both traditional and novel scientific approaches. We are seeking an experienced leader for our cross-site computational ADME/Tox AI/ML modeling team. The candidate should have a passion for developing innovative computational methods, maintaining a deep knowledge of current technology to solve druggability and safety issues. Collaboration with chemists, ADME and Toxicology project leaders, and lab-based scientists is essential. This role requires excellent people skills, a positive attitude, willingness to learn, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$168,000 - $294,800
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance). Responsibilities
- Lead a cross-site team of Computational ADME/Toxicology scientists, primarily focused on the support of the new Lilly Small Molecule Discovery (LSMD) group, but one that can also provide support to LRL therapeutic areas and molecular creation teams (LGM, and BioTDR).
- Use computational tools and techniques to research, develop and deliver computational solutions to design and guide compound design and triage in various in vitro and in vivo experiments.
- Ensure concerted efforts are applied to data analysis activities to understand the connectivity across in silico, in vitro and in vivo ADME and Safety data for project teams.
- Work with other leaders across the Investigative ADME/Toxicology and BioAnalytical Research organization to ensure critical success factors are outlined for teams, while working to provide prompt delivery which will include assay development, data analysis and reporting with innovative computational approaches.
- Provide guidance and next-level mentorship to members of the Computational ADME/Toxicology team.
- Champion an environment that challenges the organization to actively tackle challenging problems, and ensure utilization of computational approaches to design rational, assumption-guided experiments and facilitate effective multi-property optimization strategies.
- PhD in computational chemistry, cheminformatics, computational biology or a related field
- Demonstrated impact in developing and applying cheminformatics tools within the pharmaceutical sector, or a closely related field.
- 7 years of industry experience leading a cross-site computational group in either ADME or Toxicology fields
- In-depth knowledge of hit-to-lead to candidate optimization across ADME and Toxicology fields.
- Demonstrated experience in working with interdisciplinary teams who analyze and visualize multi-dimensional scientific data
- Experience in leading teams which apply advanced machine learning and statistical methodologies (eg. Uncertainty quantification, QSAR, DNN) for large scale data mining and modeling
- Proficient in scripting/programming in one or more of the following languages: Python, C/C , R
- Commanding knowledge of principles of ADMET and Pharmacokinetics
