Responsibilities
- Drive medicinal chemistry strategy as chemistry team lead for early program
- Coordinate and collaborate with external and internal groups across hit finding, in vitro pharmacology, computational chemistry, and DMPK teams
- Coordinate sample shipment and testing by working with compound management teams across multiple sites
- Design new compounds using available computational tools and methods to progress program
- Manage external chemistry team, including synthetic strategy, optimization and target prioritization
- PhD in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or related fields
- 7 years of drug discovery experience in the pharmaceutical industry
- Chemistry team and program team management experience
- Understanding of medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, and PK/PD principles
- Experience in hit finding techniques, hit to lead, lead optimization, and candidate selection activities
- Capable of working independently and managing time effectively
- Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability communicate scientific results to an interdisciplinary team
