Medical Analytics Associate Director

What You Will Do

Lets do this. Lets change the world. In this vital role you will lead insights generation by integrating a multitude of data sources to drive impact of the medical organization at Amgen and broadly.

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Medical Data and Analytics, this role requires engaging Amgen colleagues of various levels to develop a comprehensive understanding of performance; and provide tactical recommendations to drive efficiencies and executional excellence.

  • Analyze, synthesize, and integrate various secondary data to uncover insights and recommend actions and business solutions to drive performance.
  • Use AI, Machine Learning, quantitative methods, multivariate statistics, predictive modeling and other analytics frameworks/techniques to determine cause and effect
  • Clearly articulate and document objective and rigorous perspectives/recommendations on secondary data analytics and performance to support medical leadership decision making.
  • Lead the production and interpretation of data for standard reports as designated by medical leadership (e.g., weekly metrics/dashboard, monthly or quarterly tracking, etc.).
  • Prepare, interpret and present analyses on specific business objectives and in preparation for ad hoc investigative requests.
  • Develop, manage, and continuously improve the customer universe and field medical targeting framework; deliver quarterly (or as designated by medical leadership) field medical targeting lists and recommendations for balancing and/or enhanced operational performance.
  • Proactively coordinate and promote positive medical and cross-functional stakeholder relations (e.g., Global Field Medical Excellence, US Strategy & Performance, data & analytics teams, etc.) to deliver an integrated and high-quality secondary data analysis and insights capability.
  • Lead project planning and management of activities across medical stakeholders and analytics team to deliver on priorities.
  • Find opportunities and improve the Analytics team capabilities by researching and implementing new analytical tools, methodologies, internal and external standard processes, new data sources, etc.
  • Promote compliance with Amgen enterprise/Medical data management governance and standards; ensure data compliance, integrity, and accuracy in all analyses and reports.
  • Location: Flexible Commuter role to Thousand Oaks, US Headquarter site. You will work on-site a minimum of 2 days a week.

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 3 years of analytics experience

OR

Masters degree and 5 years of analytics experience

OR

Bachelors degree and 7 years of analytics experience

OR

Associates degree and 12 years of analytics experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 14 years of analytics experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical secondary data and analytics experience spanning across different teams and therapeutic areas, e.g., National/Subnational, HCP and patient level analysis, field targeting framework, etc.
  • Expertise in performing comprehensive data analysis using SQL and/or Python to extract, clean, and manipulate data. and develop sophisticated statistical/AI-ML models
  • Demonstrated ability in secondary data analysis, synthesis, and integration to drive insights.
  • Strong project planning and management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed organization across teams and levels.
  • Strong active listening, oral and written presentation skills, demonstrated ability to simplify complex concepts verbally or visually via PowerPoint.
  • Experience in directing and managing the work of others (direct line reporting or project reporting).

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
