Title: Senior Electrical Technician
Job Overview:
The Senior Electrical Technician will be responsible for overseeing and performing electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs for a bio-pharmaceutical manufacturing company. This role requires a high level of expertise in both electrical systems, automated process controls and PLC’s. The ideal candidate will have the right technical ability, leadership, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. This role also requires a level of proficiency in automation control and PLC systems and willingness to become the Company subject matter expert for automation control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Electrical Installation, Maintenance and Repair: Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment and systems to support bio-pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Automated Control & PLC Systems: Install, maintain, and diagnose electrical issues in automation control systems and resolve issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Testing & Calibration: Test electrical and automation systems, calibrate equipment, and conduct performance evaluations.
- System Optimization: As the candidate gains more experience with BioSpectra electrical and automated systems, they will take on greater responsibilities for optimizing these systems and processes, in order to increase efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance product quality.
- Documentation: Create and maintain clear documentation for electrical work and automation systems, including design specifications, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work complies with local and national electrical codes and safety standards. Ensure automation systems comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively suggest improvements for electrical and automation systems, processes, and tools to enhance overall efficiency and performance.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Post High School graduate certification in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair in automated control systems and PLC programming. An Associates Degree with credits in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field would be a plus.
- Electrical Experience & Technical Skills:
- A minimum of five years of proven electrical experience ideally for a chemical, pharmaceutical, or materials processing manufacturer.
- ARC Flash certification preferred.
- A thorough knowledge of Current Electrical Code Requirements in residential, commercial and industrial applications.
- Expert in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment including the following: wiring, lighting, and control systems.
- Automation Systems Experience:
- Experience with automated process controls systems, ideally with a biopharmaceutical, chemical, food or materials manufacturing.
- Experience with valve controls and utility control systems.
- Related professional experience working with PLC systems, PLC ladder logic, and maintaining automated control and HMI systems.
- Proficient in PLC programming languages (e.g. Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
- Demonstrated knowledge of C-more, Do-more software (HMI) and industrial control systems.
- Familiarity with sensors, actuators, and other automation hardware.
- Knowledge of networking, data communication, and industrial protocols.
