What are the responsibilities and job description for the Principal Scientist - Downstream Process Development position at BioTalent?
BioTalent are partnered with an expanding Biologics CDMO in Massachusetts to search for a Principal Scientist / Engineer to work on downstream process development as well as scale up and tech transfer projects.
As Principal Scientist, you will lead multiple client projects across downstream processing including purification and filtration. You will be the internal subject matter expert leading projects as well as managing small teams.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading multiple projects, overseeing internal project teams
- Provide technical expertise and leadership in planning, designing, and conducting experiments, analyzing data and documenting results towards development and optimization downstream processes and/or achieving goals for cross functional development teams
- Supervise setup, operation, and routine maintenance of AKTA and Process equipment. Monitor processes to ensure consistency and reliability
- Maintain substantial knowledge of state-of-the art principles and theories and contribute knowledge base through literature review, conferences attendance and publication.
- Play a leading role in maintaining group awareness of relevant scientific literature and new technologies. Participate in/lead the evaluations of new technologies and their potential applications and business impacts.
You will bring the following:
- PhD, Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Biochemical Engineering, Bioprocessing, Biotechnology or similar along with significant industry experience downstream processing for biopharmaceutical production.
- Experience leading projects focused on biologics purification, ideally at a variety of scales.
- Experience with ion exchange, hydrophobic, mixed mode and affinity chromatography with AKTA purification systems.
