Job Overview
We have an opening for a highly experienced medical collector with familiarity with NY & NJ workers comp, PIP, and commercial. More than five years of experience with a proven track record is the minimum requirement. Salary commensurate with experience.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Collector to join our team. The accounts will be assigned weekly and reviewed bi-weekly. You will work under a manager with more than twenty years of experience in medical billing, collections and practice management but you will be expected to function independently. Do not apply if you do not have at least five years of experience in medical collections.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze patient accounts to identify outstanding balances and initiate collection efforts.
- Communicate with patients regarding their accounts, payment options, and any disputes.
- Collaborate with insurance companies to resolve billing issues and ensure timely payments.
- Maintain accurate records of all collection activities, including notes on conversations and payment arrangements.
- Utilize medical billing systems to track payments, adjustments, and denials effectively.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations related to medical collections.
- Work closely with the medical office staff to obtain necessary information for collections.
- Stay updated on changes in medical terminology, coding (ICD-10), and billing practices.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or collections is preferred.
- Familiarity with DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) systems and processes.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and medical records management.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on customer service.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple accounts effectively.
- Proficiency in using medical office software and systems related to billing and collections.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations governing medical collections is a plus.
