We are seeking an enthusiastic, kind, and talented cook to join our team. You will play a vital role in preparing and serving meals, ensuring that our residents receive nutritious and appetizing food. Your culinary skills will enhance the quality of life for our residents in both our assisted living and memory care communities.
We are looking to fill three daytime prep-cook shifts (6Hrs) and one to two dinner cook positions (2pm-7pm) each week.
In this role, you will prepare and cook meals according to the menu under the direction of the executive chef, ensuring all food is made safely and sanitarily. You will maintain kitchen cleanliness and adhere to safety standards as directed by the Dining Services Coordinator. Additionally, you will assist residents who need help with their meals, ensuring they have a pleasant dining experience.
You will help with clean-up, kitchen maintenance, and organizing the dining areas. Part of your duties will include delivering food to residents' rooms, preparing and serving snacks, and taking inventory of food and kitchen supplies. You will assist with organizing weekly orders and follow departmental procedures, including sanitation, safety, and cleaning schedules. It is important to report any health or well-being concerns to the Resident Care Coordinator or Nurse and to maintain the confidentiality of resident information at all times. Serving meals with care and dignity, meeting the nutritional needs of residents, is a key aspect of this role. Additionally, you will perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
To be successful in this role, you should be comfortable cooking and baking from scratch, as almost 90% of our menu consists of scratch recipes. You must possess a current Food Handler's Permit and have the ability to effectively communicate with residents, families, supervisors, and associates. You will need to provide written proof of a recent TB test or obtain one within two weeks of hire. A positive attitude and commitment to delivering exceptional service are essential. You should be willing to work cooperatively with supervisors and assist co-workers, and have a compassion and willingness to work with the elderly.
You should have the ability to perform occasional heavy lifting (up to 40 lbs).
While exposure to blood / bodily fluids is unlikely, it is possible.
