Client Relations Internship (Summer)
Birch, Stewart, Kolasch & Birch, LLP, an internationally recognized intellectual property law firm located in Vienna, VA, has an exciting opportunity for a summer internship position. This internship position will support the Client Relations Department. This will be a temporary paid internship between May 27 and June 27, 2025.
Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Client Relations and Marketing Coordinator
Position Summary: The Client Relations Internship (Summer) position supports the Client Relations Department (CRD) for the annual Summer Patent Seminar (SPS). The candidate will be responsible for assisting the Client Relations Department with special events, training sessions and managing the needs of our international guests and their families.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Active degree in Marketing, Events, Hospitality, or related field is preferred.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Interacts daily with attorneys, seminar participants, and staff members to ensure that the seminars and events are being operated to the firm's satisfaction
- Assists in preparation of pre-seminar materials including participant name tags, folders, gift bags, etc.
- Provides support during seminar such as greeting attendees upon arrival, being visibly accessible throughout the day, and chaperoning busses to/from off-site events
- On-site support such as taking photos, printing photos, preparation and printing of certificates, and responding to special requests from partners, client relations staff and seminar participants
- Assists with attorney presentations, including editing, printing, and collating PowerPoint slide presentations
- Assists with scheduling and coordinating conference room set up and IT support
- Attend and support functionality of off-site events
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) is required
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite is preferred
- Any additional or spare time will have duties assigned by the Facilities Department

Qualifications
Proficient communication skills, both written and verbal. Must have high degree of poise and professionalism. Many of the seminar attendees will not have English as a first language, therefor clear communication is critical. Attention to detail is a must.
The successful candidate will have the ability to organize, prioritize – and reprioritize – workload and complete tasks under time pressure when necessary. Must be able to take direction for time-sensitive tasks (pre-, during- and post- event).
Candidate must have the flexibility and creativity to respond productively to individualized needs of attorneys and seminar participants alike.
Candidate must be willing to seek guidance and take direction to produce competent results, while exercising good judgment for interacting with international clients.
Hours and Compensation: This is a paid internship working 35-40 hours a week, depending on seminar schedule. There will be three evening events and one weekend requirement which includes an overnight retreat. Candidate will be paid on an hourly basis.
