About Birch Trail Camp: Birch Trail is a traditional summer camp for girls aged 7-15 located in Minong, Wisconsin. We provide a safe, fun, and non-competitive summer camp environment for 200 campers and 100 staff. While in camp, the girls have the opportunity to do a wide variety of activities, including canoeing, sailing, swimming, tennis, water skiing, climbing, land sports, horseback riding, arts & crafts, dance, yoga, and drama.

Job Responsibilities: Under the guidance of the Kitchen Manager, the Head Chef’s goal is to provide nutritious meals, in a timely fashion, to our 300 campers and staff; co-supervise 12 Kitchen Assistants; and ensure the kitchen facilities are kept in-line with national and state health and safety standards. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- As the Head Chef, you will:
- Oversee the preparation and service of daily meals for campers and staff, ensuring high-quality food and presentation.
- Collaborate with the Kitchen Manager to develop menus that accommodate a variety of dietary needs (e.g., vegetarian, gluten-free, nut-free).
- Lead and mentor a team of kitchen staff, fostering a positive and efficient work environment.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards in all kitchen operations.
- Manage food preparation schedules to ensure meals are served on time.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering in coordination with the Kitchen Manager.
Preferred Experience: Applicants should have experience in working in a kitchen as either a chef or sous chef. A Head Chef should be a fun, patient, honest, caring and responsible person. All employees are expected to come to camp with current CPR certification or higher.
Compensation: We are looking for someone to work June 1st - August 11th. The compensation package is $competitive and includes room & board.
