2. Education: Graduate of a state approved school of nursing combined with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Current knowledge of State and Federal regulations with proven ability to apply to day-to-day nursing programs. Superior knowledge of quality assurance, quality improvement and clinical components in Post-Acute Care and Skilled Nursing Practices. Strong computer skills required including a functional competency with Point Click Care.
3. Experience: Previous experience in a similar role and healthcare setting. Requires strong leadership abilities.
4. Certificate/Licenses: Must be a Registered Nurse, Certified Infection Preventionist.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, coordinate, and direct our infection prevention and control program in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern such requirements in nursing care facilities.
Ensure that facility is in compliance with current CDC, OSHA, and local regulations concerning infection prevention and control.
Develop, maintain, and periodically update infection prevention and control processes and techniques in accordance with current best practices.
Review, modify and interpret infection prevention and control policies and procedures as necessary.
Monitor infection prevention and control practices and procedures to ensure that all personnel are implementing our standard operating procedures for tasks involving exposure to blood/body fluids.
Represent the Infection Prevention and Control Committee at the facility QAPI Committee.
Make rounds to nursing units for the purpose of case findings, review of environmental sanitation procedures, and supervision of standard and transmission-based precautions/practices.
Prepare monthly summaries of all resident/personnel infections, corrective action taken, and the results of the corrective action. Submit copies to the Administrator and Director Of Nursing Services.
Provide the Director Of Nursing Services with a report of pertinent findings and recommendations pertaining to communicable diseases, healthcare-associated infections and antibiotic stewardship.
Maintain a written record of all residents and employees with community or healthcare associated infections.
Serve on, participate in, and attend Infection Prevention and Control Committee meetings.
Provide employee orientation, training, and counseling as outlined in our infection prevention and control employee health programs.
Maintain resident/employee exposure reports in a confidential manner.
