What are the responsibilities and job description for the Draftsman Autocad Technician/Junior Estimator position at Bird & Bear Services?
Bird & Bear Services is seeking a full-time experienced Draftsman/Junior Estimator to join our team. Draftsman must read architectural prints to create commercial roof layouts, design by using 2D AutoCAD software ensuring designs are accurate.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Read architectural prints to create roof
- Design of commercial roof in engineering software ensuring designs are accurate and optimized.
- Maintain complete and update Job Tracking Sheet.
- Ensure office and plan are maintained in a neat and orderly fashion and all plans are logged properly.
- Attend required meetings
- Computer Skills: Word Processing System, Design Software, Internet Software, Database Software. Experience with AutoCAD.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; effectively present information to others one-on-one.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Preferred Education:
- Associates Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or 6 months to 1 year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- At least 1 year of direct experience designing commercial roofs.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural blueprints.
- Ability to calculate tributary loads, concentrated loads, and load transfer through a building.
- Ability to operate a computer and current software used by company knowledge of current local codes associated with truss design.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to deal courteously with customers, co-workers and construction personnel.
- Good math skills including, but not limited to architectural units, fractions, geometry and basic trigonometry.

Salary : $60,000 - $70,000
