PURPOSE OF POSITION
Produce machined parts.
GENERAL FUNCTIONS AND SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
General Functions:
Set up and operate CNC Machines.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Develop an environment of continual improvement through the use of Lean tools.
- Promote the Bird Family Values through your actions – Trust, Innovation, Teamwork, Achievement, and Accountability.
- Be able to describe the quality policy and goals, your contribution to quality, and the effects of not observing quality and customer requirements.
- Ability to read and follow work orders, instructions, and blueprints.
- Demonstrate basic math skills.
- Program and edit CNC programs.
- Train operators in the safe and proper operation of machines.
- Use measuring equipment to maintain close tolerances
- Make tooling adjustments as needed for self or other operators.
- Follows schedules, procedures, and housekeeping practices. Minor maintenance such as oiling of machines.
- Organize and prepare materials for the next run to shorten changeover time.
- Adaptable to cell and team concepts as well as cross-training.
- Performs variety of tasks such as counting, cleaning, returning gauges and fixtures and transfer of parts.
- Other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
High school education or equivalent. One to three years of programming and CNC experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Grip and grasp tools and parts for assembly; repetitive lifting of materials/parts weighing 5-10 lbs; form parts and perform fine manipulation; turning and twisting wrists and hands.
