Job Summary
BIRDI Golf is the #1 indoor golf simulator and event center in the Twin Cities. The Lumberyard is a historic River town pub in Afton. We are seeking a group sales manager to develop and build our group sales department and drive group and event revenues for both locations.
We are seeking a highly organized and dynamic Group and Event Sales Manager to sell, oversee and coordinate various events from conception to execution. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional time management skills and a strong background in event marketing, with experience in restaurants, banquets, and hotels. This role requires a passion for delivering outstanding customer service and the ability to effectively communicate with clients, vendors, and team members to ensure seamless event operations.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and execute events of varying sizes and types, ensuring all aspects are managed efficiently.
- Develop prospecting plan and database of local event planners and build a business / book of repeat event clients for BIRDI Golf and The Lumberyard
- Collaborate with clients to understand their vision and requirements for each event.
- Develop event marketing strategies to promote events effectively.
- Manage budgets for each event, ensuring all expenses are tracked and kept within limits.
- Supervise on-site event staff and volunteers to ensure smooth operations during events.
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to secure the best services for events.
- Evaluate the success of each event through feedback and metrics to improve future planning.
Skills
- Prospecting to develop a sales pipeline of group booking opportunities
- Managing sales pipeline within a CRM, quoting, proposing and closing event sales
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Experience in outbound marketing and developing relationships with event planners at key businesses across the twin cities in BIRDI Golf's primary territory
- Background in restaurant or banquet sales and management is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in events management with a focus on detail-oriented planning.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to address client needs promptly.
- Strong communication skills to convey ideas clearly and work collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Proficient in budgeting practices related to event planning.
