MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Weight Control Manager is responsible for:
- Controls and monitors Weight Management Plan to ensure weight margin is not used Recommends design changes that can help keep VCG in targeted area
- Meets regularly with systems leads to receive updates as to the status of the design and associated changes effecting the weight of the design
- Creates a process to receive CAD model weight updates periodically
- Coordinates with Systems Design Manager to ensure supplier data sheets for purchased components are maintained and accurate to the latest design configuration
- Partners with Quality to have components weighed and recorded during receiving inspection
- Approver of Engineering Change Notifications to ensure weights in released design data is accurate
- Coordinate the weight management activities during vessel launch, hydrostatic draft measurements, and inclining tests
- Contributes to Continuous Improvement (CI) efforts
WORKING CONDITIONS & SCHEDULES
- Position requires use of computer, telephones, and other office equipment, reading, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity
- Position occasionally requires ability to work in a manufacturing environment and boats from the beginning of production through the sea trails. This includes mobility to work in and around incomplete aluminium hull structures
- Ability to lift packages, equipment, etcetera, up to 50 lbs
- Schedule negotiable
QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Naval Architecture
- 7 years of experience in vessel weight management
- Oral & Written Comprehension & Expression - Candidate must have excellent communication, teamwork, leadership, conflict management, and critical thinking skills
- Experience managing engineering deliverables
- Contribute to continuous improvement
- Ability to work under limited supervision
- Ability and desire to manage individual(s) as assigned with a result driven approach
- Experience with Automation - MS Office
- Experience with CAD – NX, Teamcenter
