What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025 Group Sales Intern position at Birmingham Barons?
The Birmingham Barons are looking for an enthusiastic Group Sales Intern to provide support to our management team excellent customer service to our patrons. A Group Sales Intern assists Groups Sales Managers and Director of Group Sales in the day-to-day operation of the Group Sales Department. The ideal candidate will be able to learn quickly and function in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Rate Range: $7.25/hour
Duties:
- Answering phones and communicating game progress
- Assisting the group sales department daily
- Assisting with special group events such as scout nights, school and kids days, church nights, youth baseball clinics, Field of Dreams, birthday and team parties, etc.
- Assisting with tarp pulls when necessary
- Assuring proper signage for group areas is correct and in place each day
- Daily set-up of all group hospitality areas
- Personally interact with fans and patrons you encounter
- Processing payment by phone order
- Representing organization in the community
- Scheduling parties and confirming details and logistics
- Delivering pocket schedules
- Distribute promotional items designed to help increase fan spirit and attendance at games
- Interact with fans before, during and after the games
- Keeping upbeat atmosphere before, during and after games
- Occasional mascot/player appearances, participation in promotions including on-field activities and enter/exit gate sampling, and distribution of marketing material
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Ability to meet deadlines and balance multiple tasks
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Flexibility to work long days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must be able to problem solve quickly, work efficiently in an intense environment
- Previous sports experience a plus, but not required
- Self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented
- Some heavy lifting is required
General Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 25 lbs up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand for up to 5 hours during a game
- Ability to work long hours, weekends & holidays
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions, including but not limited to rain and heat
