Long Bar Thread Operator
Classification: Non-exempt
Reports to: Long Bar Manager
Summary
The Long Bar Thread Operator will be responsible for threading each end of pre-cut bars in a safe and efficient manner, while maintaining a tidy work area.
Job Duties & Requirements:
- Operates roll head threading machine to thread each end of steel bars
- Pushes/pulls/turns tables of steel bars as needed to thread and advance through the production process once complete
- Completes a daily production/quality inspection/downtime report
- Inspect bars after threading to ensure proper functionality
- May inspect work using tape, template or micrometer to verify dimensions
- Cleans as needed to maintain a tidy work station
- Performs other duties as required
Physical/Cognitive Demands
This is largely a physically active role including walking long distances (over uneven surfaces) to/within our production facility, lifting 50lbs or more, and standing for long periods. Position also requires bending, stooping, squatting or standing as necessary. Cognitive abilities required include deductive reasoning, information ordering, oral comprehension, oral expression, problem sensitivity, written comprehension, and written expression. This job operates in manufacturing plant setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, heavy machinery, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can at times be loud; the use of hearing protection is required.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mandatory weekend and overtime hours are required on a recurring basis.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 2 years’ experience operating large machinery
