Summary/Objective
The Systems and Network Administrator will assist BJCC users achieve optimum use of their computer systems, software applications, and network systems by performing needs analysis, installation, training and problem resolution for these technologies. At the general direction of the Director of Information Technology, the role is responsible for configuration, operation, and administration of network systems, hardware, operating systems, and communications links. Defines and implements solutions to integrate desktop and shared devices into the BJCC networks and/or other host-based networks. Recommends appropriate computer tools to users including equipment software, documentation, and training.
The incumbent has routine contact with information systems staff, all levels of employees as well as end-users, and vendor representatives. Responsible for coordination of all activities regarding the organization's systems data networks.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Demonstrates understanding and full performance ability in each of the following:
- Analyzes users' needs. Recommends appropriate systems and network configurations to meet users’ needs and departmental standards.
- Install, configure, and maintain server operating systems, desktop operating systems and network operating systems (Windows Server, Linux, etc.) as well as manage active directory services both on-prem and on cloud, to ensure and maintain an accurate state.
- Manages BJCC workstation Imaging lifecycle process including configuration management.
- Monitor system performance and perform routine backups and disaster recovery processes; and ensure the security of the IT systems by applying patches, and updates, on server systems and endpoint devices as well as Antivirus and EDR applications per policy and security best practices.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve BJCC network issues both LAN, WLAN, VOIP and OTA connections, including connectivity problems, network and telephony hardware malfunctions, and software conflicts, this may involve terminating CAT cabling and performing cable tests.
- Assist in supporting connectivity for other BJCC Systems including but not limited to SCADA systems (Lighting Controls, Building Automations) AV systems, Access Control Systems, Digital Signage, Ticketing systems.
- Serves as a point of escalation for IT Helpdesk and determine root cause of issues and communicate appropriately to internal and external customers to ensure that end users requested are addressed quickly and effectively through the IT Support ticketing system.
- Work closely with BJCC event managers to provide event technology solutions and support as required.
- Develops, maintains and updates a library of technical documentation on system configurations, network layouts, and any changes made to the infrastructure as well as generate regular reports on system performance, network usage, and security updates
- Troubleshoot and performs advanced diagnostics and maintenance on BJCC IT systems including servers, workstations, desktop devices such as printers and scanners as needed, other related devices to ensure minimal downtime.
- Works with cross-functional teams and departments in the design, customization and implementation of any new information technology systems and assists in the training of the end-users.
- Assist departmental management with the development of systems standards, process improvement, short- and long-term goals and project management.
- Keeps current /updated on new developments and technology trends, standards and best practices in the field of information technology to continually improve BJCC systems and network.

Work Environment
This position may have a moderate to extensive stress level associated with dealing with crowds of public visitors. The environment is fast-paced, mainly indoors, however position may be required to work outdoors and exposed to the elements (heat, rain, etc.).
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Ability to lift up to 40lbs with or without assistance, while maintaining good balance. Must be flexible enough to reach above shoulder level and be able to push and pull for brief periods of time.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field preferred or equivalent technical or professional experience related to the design, installation, and maintenance of enterprise systems and network.
- Minimum of five years of IT related work experience, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in system administration is required
- Experience working with database management systems such as MS-SQL, My-SQL is required.
- Two (2) years professional experience with VMware, Hyper-V, or other virtualization platforms for managing virtualized environments is required.
- Minimum of two (2) year using cloud services and solutions such as Azure, Offce365, AWS, Rackspace, Adobe strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with ITIL best practices and methodologies is preferred.
- Experience working with scripting languages and telemetry visualization tools (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python, Grafana) for automating repetitive tasks such as patch management, reporting or system monitoring – strongly preferred.
- Documentable knowledge of local LAN and wireless network operation; computer software and hardware; knowledge of data communications, network planning and analysis; and vendor evaluations preferred.
- Technical certification(s) CompTIA Server MCSE, CCNA desired but not required.
- Valid Drivers License.
