Description

SUMMARY

The Park Quality position is responsible for the cleanliness of the Zoo grounds, upkeep of the restrooms, trash collection, parking lot sweeping, and set up/take down crew for various group sales events and special events.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Daily cleans and refreshes Zoo grounds to include parking lot, picnic area and restrooms. Demonstrates proper use of all cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  2. Pulls and picks-up trash daily.
  3. Conducts daily morning preparation of Zoo grounds for opening.
  4. Assists with the set-up, take down, and  the proper storage of all elements involved in Zoo events.
  5. Sets up, as well as takes down props, tables, etc., for various Zoo special events to include outside company rentals, all Zoo fund raising events, weddings, etc.
  6. Acts as a parking crew member for all major high attendance periods (i.e. Spring Break, school field trip days).
  7. Other duties as assigned.

SAFETY ANALYSIS

The Park Quality position is impacted by hazardous exposures common to commercial cleaning as well as public safety in an outdoor environment. Some of the following exposures will occur daily:

  • The proper use and understanding of cleaning agents
  • Thorough understanding of guest safety protocols, particularly with young children.
  • Operation of various equipment, some of which require the use of hearing protection.
  • Operation of vehicles.

Specific training and procedures will be provided, designed to maintain the safety of people as the highest priority of the zoo followed by the safety of the animal collection.

The Park Quality associate is responsible for following safety policies and procedures for their areas.

The use and understanding of a variety of personal safety equipment is mandatory.

The Park Quality associate, as with any employee of the zoo, is required to be familiar with the Zoos overall safety policies as outlined in the employee handbook as well as being responsible for reporting any injury immediately to the first aid department.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee should expect:

  • Use of hands, fingers, tools or controls.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, bend, crawl, crouch and talk or hear.
  • Routinely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to wet surfaces.
  • Depending on assignment, exposure to the elements can be expected.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT

  1. High School Degree or GED.
  2. Must have ability to foster teamwork within and across teams.
  3. Must have a current valid driver’s license with no prior traffic violations within the last five years.
  4. Must be First aid/CPR certified, or willing to be certified.
  5. Flexibility and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet frequent deadlines.
  6. Understanding and appreciation for BZIs mission.

 

POSITION TYPE AND HOURS OF WORK

  1. Full time.
  2. Weekdays and weekends are required.
  3. Occasional evening hours (during special events) and holidays.
