Requirements
- Must have 2 years of surgical unit experience
- Prior experience with interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias, use of Rapid Response Teams, Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, Peripheral Line Care/Management, Surgical drains, Nasal Cannula, Non-invasive airway management, Isolation Precautions, Wound Care/Wound Vac
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH
- MUST Pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty
- Titrate cardiac drips
- Titrate vasoactive drips
- Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac
- Combination acuity unit: adult medical surgical and surgical stepdown
- Ratios: 1:6 for floor for surgical/medicine inpatient patients
- 12-hour nights, 36 or 48 hours accepted, every other weekend required
- Float Requirement: when needed to like units
- Unit systems: Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR
- 2 Days of hospital orientation, 24 hours of floor training
- Scrubs: all Navy or Navy on bottom/White Top
- Wide range of patient diagnoses that have had or plan to have surgery or involved in a trauma: Cellulitis, Appendicitis, Cholecystitis, Diverticulitis, Motor Vehicle Accidents, Gun Shots, Stabbings, Falls, Various Cancers, Kidney Stones, Bowel Obstruction, Peripheral Vascular Disease, Limb Ischemia, Hernia, Gangrene

- NG tube/Corpak
- JP Drains
- Hemovac Drains
- Penrose Drains
