Job Description:
Birth Tissue Donor Services (BTDS) strives to be the preferred-choice partner for birth tissue donation and to provide exceptional service to our hospitals, physicians, and expectant parents. We honor a mother’s decision to donate in support of the need for transplantable human tissue. The generosity of these donors enables breakthrough medical applications that can restore vision and heal burns or wounds.
Our goal is to hire dedicated and dependable team members with an exceptional work ethic, integrity, and a shared passion for our mission. We are currently seeking one full-time Recovery Coordinator to support our new donation programs out of Lincoln Heath in Fayetteville and Southern TN Regional Health System- Winchester. We service these hospitals out of our office in Winchester.
A Recovery Coordinator performs all assigned tasks related to the birth tissue acquisition process and services hospitals per their labor and delivery schedule. BTDS follows all hospital policies, regulations and procedures as well as aseptic technique and OR protocols. Professionalism, friendliness, and a can-do attitude are a must while representing BTDS.
Please note that after a week of paid virtual training, two weeks of paid field training typically are required in either Spartanburg, SC or Northeast Tennessee.
Candidates must be able to meet specific hospital vendor-credentialing requirements, which typically include verifiable immunization against hepatitis B, influenza, and other communicable diseases.
Duties Include:
- Communicating effectively and consistently with labor & delivery staff
- Completing informed consent, donor screening, and acceptability with potential donors
- Acquiring birth tissue
- Coordinating transportation of acquired tissues, blood samples and/or cultures to assigned destinations
- Thorough and accurate completion of donor chart documentation
- Assisting local BTDS leadership in supply preparation and case activity
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid state driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Basic understanding of medical terminology; some medical experience desirable
- Basic computer skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or successful completion of a healthcare technical or professional program (Allied Health; EMT, Nursing, CST/ST or Hospital Corpsman)
- At least one year of surgical experience and/or donor screening/tissue bank experience
Pay: Compensation is a combination of a salary plus case pay. Details discussed at 2nd interview.
Schedule: This is a full-time position with variable hours.
Due to our commitment to giving all mothers the opportunity to donate their birth tissue, please note that some Saturday work hours will be required.
